Construction Plan Room – Partnership with McGraw-Hill Construction Dodge
In 2001, AGC Shreveport partnered with McGraw-Hill Construction Dodge to create a joint construction plan room to serve the needs of contractors in North Louisiana. Public and private construction project information is gathered by both partners that include Monroe to Shreveport/Bossier City to Alexandria and all points in between. In addition, the services now include East Texas and Southern Arkansas.
The partnership has provided valuable project information for the general contractor and subcontractors/suppliers. McGraw-Hill Construction Dodge is the nation’s largest construction information source. McGraw-Hill Construction Dodge’s experience and expertise enables AGC members to be provided with state of the art technology and, most important, accurate construction project information within this technology to keep AGC members competitive in a fast pace industry.
In addition, AGC Shreveport members are able to take advantage of discounting on McGraw-Hill Construction Dodge products and services, including the VIRTUAL PLANS ROOM service.
AGC Shreveport maintains strong working relationships with other industry groups. These industry relationships provide the necessary forums to address industry issues from a variety of viewpoints.
One example of these industry partnerships is through a Cooperative Endeavor Partnership with the National Association of Minority Contractors and the National Association of Women in Construction. The partnership provides an opportunity for minority and women owned businesses to develop working relationships with larger construction firms to create joint venture contracting opportunities. These joint venture opportunities provide DBE firms to build capacity within their own company. It is a WIN-WIN situation.
Contractor Referral & Economic Development
AGC Shreveport has developed regional partnerships with a variety of economic development personnel in the public and private sectors. These relationships allow AGC Shreveport to provide construction industry information on the variety of products and services of contractor members. AGC Shreveport’s Construction Buyer’s Guide contains this construction information and it is provided to potential developers who are looking to build facilities or infrastructure.
AGC Shreveport’s Membership Directory is viewed by the industry as the “Yellow Pages” for the construction industry. Many Fortune 500 firms utilize this AGC publication to identify AGC members to perform work for their project.
Political Action & Legislative
AGC Shreveport’s Political Action Committee – “The Construction Industry PAC of Northwest Louisiana” has become the regions most influential PAC’s. According to Chuck Penn, chapter executive director, “AGC’s PAC combined with the strength in numbers in AGC Shreveport’s membership provides a major attention getter for local, state and national political leaders”.
The goal of the PAC is to support politicians that are pro-business and seek out those individuals that are interested in running for public office and possess a pro-business philosophy. AGC’s PAC is very active and visible to provide our political leadership with the necessary feedback on issues that affect the industry. AGC Shreveport has always been there to provide helpful information on legislative issues that affect the construction industry.
